Yogarden’s mission is to educate the community in the importance of growing your own food and living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. Through the principles of yoga philosophy and organic farming techniques, we set a solid foundation for the growth of a conscious community.
Yogarden Farm is located in the back roads of Waimanalo, HI. Yogarden is currently farming about one acre of organically grown produce, which is sold every Sunday at the Kailua Town Farmers Market. Our farm also provides produce for our Farm-2-Table dinners and local chefs & resturants around the island of Oahu.
Yogarden’s annual Farm & Music Festivals are an all ages, collective community event, focusing on sowing the seeds of love, charity, expression, kokua, and growth. Through mediums of music, yoga, gardening, dance, painting, culinary arts, raw foods, photography, performance art, and especially aloha, a growing symbiotic community is unearthed.
Yogarden offers events including Live music yoga classes, Farm-to-Table dinners, and edible landscaping/garden seminars.
These different elements align to form the happening known as Yogarden.
Paul Izak, founder
Paul was born and raised on the Island of Oahu. Here in the islands, he was able to explore a healthy conscious lifestyle, which led him to find his passion for yoga, gardening and music. When installing a backyard garden in a health and wellness center in 2008, Paul came up with the idea of combining what he loves and sharing it with the community. It took about two years of vision questing and brain storming with friends like Kelly Stern and Crystal Smith who became co-creators in this organization. Yogarden Music Gatherings were brought to life in October of 2010. Paul sees Yogarden as an opportunity to share creative expression, unite the community, and spread awareness and the truth of unconditional love. Paul has been working on urban backyard gardening and organic farming for a decade. Paul has a 200hr yoga certification the though Aloha Yoga Kula. He plans on teaching in the future, but for now he is content with his daily yoga practice. You can find Paul playing music all over the island of Oahu as he loves sharing the vibration of music. Kelly Stern, co-founder
Kelly grew up in the small beach town of St. Augustine, FL, where she learned the importance of taking care of the beaches and keeping the land and water clean. Her passion for sustainability grew through consciously choosing what foods to eat and understanding where it came from. Kelly began teaching Yoga in 2007 on the island of Maui. Kelly shares her passions for yoga, organic farming, and healthy eating with the windward community. She is a raw food/vegan chef sharing her love for food, a yoga instructor, and an avid organic farmer. “The most sustainable way of eating comes with growing the food ourselves, creating a relationship with the seed, the plant, the water, the journey of life.” Kelly feels so blessed to be a co-founder and backbone of this Yogarden Ohana.
