Yogarden Ohana is everyone and anyone! The foundation of Yogarden is to bring community together to support a conscious & healthy lifestyle. Welcoming in new friends every week through our volunteer farm days, our ohana continues to grow. Yogarden is welcoming to all.
Paul Izak, founder
Paul was born and raised on the Island of Oahu. Here in the islands, he was able to explore a healthy conscious lifestyle, which led him to find his passion for yoga, gardening and music. When installing a backyard garden in a health and wellness center in 2008, Paul came up with the idea of combining what he loves and sharing it with the community. It took about two years of vision questing and brain storming with friends like Kelly Stern and Crystal Smith who became co-creators in this organization. Yogarden Music Gatherings were brought to life in October of 2010. Paul sees Yogarden as an opportunity to share creative expression, unite the community, and spread awareness and the truth of unconditional love. Paul has been working on urban backyard gardening and organic farming for a decade. Paul has a 200hr yoga certification the though Aloha Yoga Kula. He plans on teaching in the future, but for now he is content with his daily yoga practice. You can find Paul playing music all over the island of Oahu as he loves sharing the vibration of music. Kelly Stern, co-founder
Kelly grew up in the small beach town of St. Augustine, FL, where she learned the importance of taking care of the beaches and keeping the land and water clean. Her passion for sustainability grew through consciously choosing what foods to eat and understanding where it came from. Kelly began teaching Yoga in 2007 on the island of Maui. Kelly shares her passions for yoga, organic farming, and healthy eating with the windward community. She is a raw food/vegan chef sharing her love for food, a yoga instructor, and an avid organic farmer. “The most sustainable way of eating comes with growing the food ourselves, creating a relationship with the seed, the plant, the water, the journey of life.” Kelly feels so blessed to be a co-founder and backbone of this Yogarden Ohana.
